Description

These decadent Brown Butter Brownies are rich, fudgy, and packed with a deep, nutty flavor from the brown butter. With a perfect balance of chewy texture and gooey chocolate goodness, these brownies are sure to become your new favorite treat. A simple yet indulgent twist on the classic brownie!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking the butter, swirling occasionally, until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Be careful not to burn it. Once browned, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and brown butter. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs. The brownies should be firm but slightly fudgy in the middle.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan before cutting them into squares and serving.

Notes

  • These brownies are best served slightly warm for a gooey texture, but they’re delicious at room temperature as well.
  • You can store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
  • For extra richness, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
