This Caramel Apple Dump Cake is a ridiculously easy dessert that delivers big on fall flavor. With just a handful of pantry staples — apple pie filling, caramel sauce, cake mix, and butter — you’ll have a warm, gooey treat perfect for holidays, potlucks, or cozy nights in. Serve with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate comfort dessert.
Ingredients
-
2 cans (about 21 oz each) apple pie filling
-
½ cup caramel sauce (plus more for serving)
-
1 box (13.25 to 15.25 oz) spice cake mix or yellow cake mix
-
1½ sticks (6 oz) cold unsalted butter, sliced
-
Butter (for greasing the baking dish)
-
Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
-
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
-
Layer Ingredients: Spread both cans of apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the baking dish. Drizzle caramel sauce over the apples.
-
Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the filling — do not stir.
-
Top with Butter: Distribute the cold butter slices evenly across the top of the cake mix to cover as much of the surface as possible.
-
Bake: Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
-
Serve: Let cool slightly. Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
Spice cake mix adds extra flavor, but yellow cake mix works well too.
Make sure the butter is cold and sliced thin for even melting.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat before serving.
