Description
Churros Poppers are crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside, and rolled in a sweet cinnamon-sugar coating. These bite-sized churros are the ultimate handheld treat—perfect for parties, snacks, or dipping in your favorite sauces.
Ingredients
For the Dough:
-
1 cup water
-
2½ tablespoons granulated sugar
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
-
½ cup granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
Make the cinnamon-sugar coating:
In a bowl, mix together the ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside. -
Heat the oil:
Add enough oil to a deep pan or fryer to submerge the poppers (about 2–3 inches deep). Heat to 375°F (190°C). -
Prepare the dough:
In a saucepan, bring water, 2½ tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until it forms a smooth dough ball. -
Shape the poppers:
Let the dough cool slightly, then form into small balls about 1 to 1½ inches in diameter. -
Fry the poppers:
Carefully drop a few poppers at a time into the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Drain on paper towels. -
Coat and serve:
While still warm, roll each popper in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Serve immediately with optional dipping sauces like chocolate or caramel.
Notes
Keep the oil at a steady temperature to prevent soggy or burnt churros.
You can pipe the dough into mini shapes instead of rolling for a more classic churro look.
For a fun twist, inject with chocolate or dulce de leche after frying.
