Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Red Hots candies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the crushed Red Hots and mini chocolate chips (if using).
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Red Hots can be a little spicy, so adjust the quantity based on your heat preference.
  • You can substitute Red Hots with cinnamon candies for a slightly different flavor.
  • If you prefer a softer cookie, slightly underbake them.
