Description

These festive cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with chocolate chips, making them the perfect treat to share with your loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup red and pink M&M’s or heart-shaped sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and, if using, the red and pink M&M’s or heart-shaped sprinkles.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a chewier texture, underbake the cookies slightly and let them finish cooking on the baking sheet after removing from the oven.
  • To enhance the flavor, consider adding 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
  • If you prefer a crispier cookie, bake for an additional 1-2 minutes
