Description

This Western Omelet Quiche is a savory and satisfying dish packed with ham, cheese, and vegetables. The perfect blend of eggs, milk, and a flaky pie crust, this quiche makes a great breakfast, brunch, or even dinner option. The mild cheddar cheese and colorful veggies add flavor and texture in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) prepared pie crust

  • 1 cup diced ham

  • 2 ½ cups shredded mild Cheddar cheese

  • 1 ¼ cups milk

  • 4 large eggs, whisked

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced (or more to taste)

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon white sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a frozen pie crust, make sure it’s thawed and ready for filling.

  • Cook the Vegetables:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion, red bell pepper, and minced garlic for 4-5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

  • Prepare the Egg Mixture:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, black pepper, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  • Assemble the Quiche:

    • Spread the diced ham evenly across the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Add the sautéed vegetables and mix to distribute evenly.

    • Pour the egg mixture over the ham and vegetables in the pie crust.

    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the quiche.

  • Bake:

    • Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the eggs are set, the top is golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • Cool and Serve:

    • Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use low-fat cheese or substitute the whole milk with a lower-fat alternative like skim milk.

  • You can also add other veggies like spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini to customize the quiche to your taste.

  • This quiche can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. It’s also great for meal prep!
