Description

These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are a holiday classic, featuring a delicate, buttery texture that practically dissolves on your tongue. Decorated with festive sprinkles or a cherry on top, they add a touch of elegance to any dessert tray.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups unsalted butter, softened

  • 1½ cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted

  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1½ cups cornstarch

  • Nonpareils and/or halved candied cherries for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  • Cream the softened butter and sifted confectioners’ sugar together until light and fluffy, approximately 3–4 minutes.

  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour and cornstarch to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

  • Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

  • Press each cookie lightly with a floured fork to create a decorative pattern.

  • Top each cookie with nonpareils or a halved candied cherry for decoration.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20–22 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly browned.

  • Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for optimal creaming.

Sifting the confectioners’ sugar helps achieve a smooth dough.

Decorations can be customized based on seasonal themes or personal preferences.
