-
1½ cups cornstarch
-
Nonpareils and/or halved candied cherries for decoration
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
-
Cream the softened butter and sifted confectioners’ sugar together until light and fluffy, approximately 3–4 minutes.
-
Gradually add the all-purpose flour and cornstarch to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
-
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
-
Press each cookie lightly with a floured fork to create a decorative pattern.
-
Top each cookie with nonpareils or a halved candied cherry for decoration.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–22 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly browned.
-
Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for optimal creaming.
Sifting the confectioners’ sugar helps achieve a smooth dough.
