Description
This Garlic Shrimp Gratin is a rich and flavorful dish that features tender shrimp in a creamy, garlicky sauce, topped with a golden, crispy breadcrumb crust. It’s perfect for a special dinner or as a decadent appetizer that will impress your guests!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp paprika (optional, for color and flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are just pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the white wine (or chicken broth) and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce. Transfer everything into a baking dish (about 9×9 or similar).
- In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, melted butter, and paprika. Sprinkle this breadcrumb mixture evenly over the shrimp.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier version, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic sauce.
- You can also substitute half of the Parmesan with mozzarella for a more melty and gooey texture.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce.
