For the Filling:

  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened

  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For the Sandwiches:

  • 4 slices thick white bread (brioche or Texas toast)

  • ½ cup strawberry jam

  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)

For the Batter:

  • 1 large egg

  • ¼ cup milk

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture on two slices of bread. Spread strawberry jam on top.

  3. Top with the remaining slices to form sandwiches.

  4. In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and cinnamon.

  5. Melt butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

  6. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, coating both sides.

  7. Fry sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

  8. Remove, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.

Notes

Add a pinch of lemon zest to the filling for brightness.
