Ingredients

Scale

For the Cinnamon Rolls:

  • 1 package (about 2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

For the Maple Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

  • 12 teaspoons milk (to reach desired consistency)

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough:
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, salt, and eggs. Add the yeast mixture and stir until combined. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until the dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  • Make the filling:
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

  • Assemble the rolls:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12×18-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
Spread the softened butter over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the cinnamon sugar mixture and drizzle with maple syrup.
Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log, pinching the seams closed.
Slice the roll into 12 even pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between each roll. Let them rise for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until puffed.

  • Bake the cinnamon rolls:
Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.

  • Make the glaze:
While the rolls are baking, mix the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter in a bowl. Add milk, a teaspoon at a time, to reach the desired glaze consistency.

  • Glaze and serve:
Drizzle the maple glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately. Enjoy the sweet and savory goodness!

  • For extra indulgence, you can top the cinnamon rolls with extra crispy bacon before serving.

  • Leftover rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or you can freeze them for up to 1 month. Reheat in the oven before serving.
