Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (chicken, turkey, or pork)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, shredded
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  • Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic, and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onion softens and the garlic becomes fragrant.
  • Stir in the sliced cabbage and shredded carrots. Cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables begin to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  • If you like some heat, add the crushed red pepper flakes and stir.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground meat with a plant-based protein like tofu or tempeh.
  • Adjust the soy sauce and sesame oil to taste for more or less seasoning.
  • You can also add other veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms, or snow peas for more variety.
