These zesty crackers are seasoned with ranch dressing mix, red pepper flakes, and other spices, offering a delightful kick in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ⅔ cups vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 (1-ounce) packets ranch dressing mix
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (16-ounce) box Saltine crackers

Instructions

  • Prepare the Seasoning Mixture:
    • In a large gallon-sized zip-top bag, combine the vegetable oil, ranch dressing mix, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
    • Seal the bag and shake well to mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  • Add the Crackers:
    • Carefully add the Saltine crackers to the bag.
    • Seal the bag and gently turn it over several times to ensure all crackers are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  • Marinate:
    • Allow the crackers to sit at room temperature for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight, to absorb the flavors.
  • Optional Baking (for extra crispiness):
    • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
    • Spread the seasoned crackers in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the crackers are crispy and golden brown.
    • Remove from the oven and let them cool completely.
