  • Author: Norah
  • Total Time: 4 servings (about 12-15 onion rings, depending on size)
  • Yield: Appetizer, Snack
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings are the perfect crunchy snack or side dish! With a light and crispy coating and a soft, flavorful onion inside, these air fryer onion rings are much healthier than their deep-fried counterpart. They’re easy to make and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for added flavor)
  • Cooking spray (for spraying the onion rings)

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the onion into 1/4-inch thick rings and separate the rings from each other.
  • In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs.
  • In a third shallow bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese (if using).
  • Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, making sure it’s fully coated, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the panko mixture.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the coated onion rings in a single layer, leaving some space between each ring.
  • Spray the top of the onion rings with a light coat of cooking spray.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping the onion rings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, ranch, or BBQ sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can add more Parmesan cheese to the panko mixture.
  • If your air fryer is small, cook the onion rings in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • You can also use regular breadcrumbs, but panko gives the best crispy texture.
  • Try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
