Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • ¾ cup warm milk (105–110°F)

  • 1¼ oz packet instant/quick-rise yeast (2¼ tsp)

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 eggs, room temperature

  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

  • 3 cups bread flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Cinnamon Sugar Filling:

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup softened butter

Optional Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

    • Add eggs and melted butter; mix well.

    • Gradually stir in bread flour and salt to form a soft dough.

    • Knead by hand or with a dough hook for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.

    • Punch down the dough and roll it into a 14×9-inch rectangle on a floured surface.

    • Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar mixture.

  3. Shape and Bake:

    • Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log.

    • Slice into 12 rolls and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  4. Make the Frosting (Optional):

    • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.

    • Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt; beat until fluffy.

    • Spread over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Use unflavored dental floss to cut clean slices of dough.

For overnight rolls, refrigerate after shaping and bring to room temp before baking.

Swap cream cheese frosting with a simple vanilla glaze if desired.
